Masters of Educational Technology Portfolio
Welcome. Here's a little about me.

My Background
I grew up in West Bloomfield, MI, a very diverse and tight-nit community. While attending K-12 schooling in West Bloomfield, I enjoyed spending time with my extended family (most of which lived close by) and getting involved in my community. I have always been a member of a House Divided with my sister attending University of Michigan and myself being a diehard Michigan State Spartan. Even now, I am a part of a House Divided, as my husband is also a U of M Wolverine. After living in Ann Arbor for 5 years, now, I can comfortably say that it’s a great city filled with a rich cultural community…even if it is draped in the wrong colors!
My Schooling
I attended MSU for both my undergraduate degree and now, to complete my Master’s degree. During my undergraduate years at MSU I was a part of Lyman Briggs College, a “residential college dedicated to bridging the gap between sciences and humanities.” While in Lyman Briggs I built a strong foundation for my love of science and mathematics. As a junior at MSU, I applied and was accepted into the College of Education and began my Teacher Education Courses. I completed my degrees through the College of Nature Science, getting a chemistry major and a biology minor. In addition to my undergraduate degrees, I completed my Secondary Education Teacher Certification.
After completing the first few courses of my Master’s degree concurrently with my student teaching, I am now returning to MSU to complete my Master’s degree in Educational Technology.
My Work Experience
For the past 5 years I have worked as a Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry and Biology teacher at South Lyon East High School. South Lyon is a small community filled with traditions and a strong sense of community support. I am very fortunate to have some amazing colleagues that I not only consider colleagues but also friends. I have enjoyed working in South Lyon.
Prior to me completing my teaching certification, I was a nanny, I tutored high school and college students in math and science and for 8 years I worked as a camp counselor for Tamarack Camps. All of these experiences helped me to become a better teacher and have provided me invaluable life experiences.
My Hobbies
When I am not at work, I enjoy cooking, spending time outside (any season) and traveling with my family and friends. Although I am in general an animal lover, I am especially fond of my two cats Nelson and Oslo. They keep my husband and I laughing with all the cute and hilarious things they do.
